Gutter Cleaning

Why do I need gutter cleaning?

Gutters are there to catch and direct water runoff from your roof, helping to avoid damage to your home. If you have trees within 50 feet of your house, leaves are bound to land in your gutters. It doesn’t take many leaves to get carried to the downspouts and create a clog. This works like a dam, preventing water from flowing through the system. With nowhere to go, water will pool, fill up, and eventually overflow.

This overflow can cause aluminum gutters to oxidize (giving you those unsightly Zebra Stripes), rust galvanized gutters, rot soffit and fascia boards, and even lead to water damage in basements and ceilings.

Debris sitting in the gutter decays, releasing acid that eats away at the seams and attracts pests like ants and yellow jackets looking for a place to nest. Cleaning your gutters regularly helps prevent all these problems.

How is the gutter cleaning done?

Our certified two-man, roofing-trained crew will blow off all the leaves, pine straw, and debris from your roof using safety equipment. They’ll also do a thorough 10-point inspection of your roof, noting any issues. If you need, they can take photos of any necessary repairs for you.

They’ll clear all the debris out of your gutters and downspout systems with high-powered blowers. If there are any large debris accumulations that can’t be blown out, they’ll remove it by hand. (This means big, heavy debris, not the thin film lining the gutter.)

They’ll test the downspouts for clogs that might have been missed during cleaning. Sometimes, if the gutters haven’t been cleaned in a while, too much debris can cause major clogs that need to be cleared by hand, which isn’t part of our basic service and incurs an extra fee. But this is rare unless there are a lot of trees and leaves over the gutters. Finally, they’ll clean up any fallen gutter debris around the home, blowing it into the natural landscape.

Once done, your gutters will be clear and free-flowing. There might still be some dirt, grime, and sediment on the gutter walls, but that’s normal and doesn’t affect the water flow. Our goal is to clear the system, not beautify the inside.

We don’t engage in unprofessional or uncommon practices like using water to clean gutters, clearing underground corrugated pipes, or installing plastic covers and screens.

Bagging

There is a bagging option at $10 per bag. With this, the crew will blow the debris into piles and neatly bag it by hand. Once done, the bags are tied and left at curbside or wherever it is natural for waste disposal to retrieve it.

Major Downspout Clog

Sometimes, we come across downspouts that are so packed with debris our blowers can’t clear them out. When this happens, we take the downspouts apart, clean them out by hand, and put them back together. NEW: This used to be an extra service, but now it’s included in our basic gutter cleaning. Luckily, this doesn’t happen often, but if it does, we’ve got it covered as part of our service.
